Laguna Sanitation
District Plant Expansion |
2002 APWA Central Coast Chapter Project of the Year:
Structures: Design Innovation |

|
Expansion of sewer plant
nearly complete. Micro-filtration and reverse-osmosis
equipment in place. Grading continues

Bengal Engineering prepared plans
and specifications for Laguna Sanitation District
as a fast-track change order when plans prepared
by others, encountering unanticipated ground water
and liquefiable soils, proved unworkable.
The original concept of spread
footings that required dewatering was replaced with
Bengal Engineer's design of deep foundations. The
Bengal concept minimized cost, time and disruption
to the existing plant.
Bengal worked closely with the
District and the contractor while construction continued. |

Beach Access Stairway |
Camino Del Sur Beach Access
Stairway
near UCSB, Santa Barbara,
CA |
Bengal Engineering designed a beach access stairway
to withstand tremendous pounding wave forces
present at the site. Environmental concerns shaped
design and construction, limiting options for
the project. |
