The Cabrillo Blvd bridge replacement was one of the largest capital funded projects in recent years for the City of Santa Barbara. It was also one of the most visible to the public. This multiyear project replaced an ocean front bridge that dated back to the early 1900's that was weight restricted due to its condition. Because of the general site conditions, two unique non-standard pile methods were used in foundation construction. The carefully planned construction staging was critical to the success in delivering this $25 million project.
