Dune Palms Bridge

In Construction

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING | BRIDGE ENGINEERING | HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING | ROADWAY ENGINEERING

The Dune Palms Bridge project, funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Program (HBP) involves the construction of a 480-foot-long, 4-span box girder bridge to replace the existing 3-lane low-water crossing over the Whitewater River.

The new design addresses critical issues of the current structure, such as the inability for traffic to cross during adverse weather, which has required significant detours for vehicles and pedestrians. Additionally, the low-water crossing has negatively impacted the river's hydraulic conveyance, causing severe sediment deposition and bank scouring. Our design included a thorough in-house sediment transport analysis to ensure the new bridge's foundations are resilient against ongoing scour.

The Dune Palms Bridge will be constructed in two stages, ensuring uninterrupted access throughout the 16-month project duration. This strategic approach guarantees continuous connectivity and minimal detours for the community, with all phases scheduled for completion by early 2025.
